Field Trip Safety
In September of 2023, the East Moriches School District reevaluated the process used to secure "coach" buses for extended school trips. In order to provide the safest transportation possible, advisors and school administrators will secure transportation through ESBOCES. By working with ESBOCES, a certified transportation specialist will complete a full safety inspection of each coach bus prior to the students departure from the school grounds.
The safety inspection includes the review the following:
- Driver abstract
- Driver vehicle safety log/report
- Complete a physical inspection of the coach bus following NYSDOT guidelines, including tread depth, lug nuts, tire pressure, emergency equipment, and brakes.
- ESBOCES inspector makes a safety determination, which is then given to the administrator or teacher representative.
